Original description Cyaneo niger thorace abdomineque antice ferrugineis. 
Ross. Fn. Etrusc. tab, 6. fig. 1. 7. Habitat in Italia Mus. Dom. Bosc.
Statura omnino praecedentis. Antennae inflexae primo articulo longiori, atro, secundo rufo, reliquis nigris. Caput atrum, nitidum. Thorax postice bidentatus, cyaneus, nitidus lobo antico ferrugineo. Abdomen ferrugineum, apice nigrum. Alae fuscae. Pedes ferruginei femoribus posticis annulo atro.
Synonymy Cleptes fallax Mocsáry, 1889: 49, ♂. Lectotypus ♂ (desig. Móczár , 1962: 119); Hungary (Budapest).
Cleptes nitidulus: Buysson, 1891: 86, ♀♂ (fallax Mocsáry as synonym).
