Today (30-06-2011) I found this rather big (estimated 8-9 mm) species on Daucus carota. Location: La Fontouret, Saint Gilles, Indre, France. I know nothing about these litte creatures but someone on the forum of
www.waarneming.nl suggested that it could be a Hedychrum-species. Is there possibly a bit more to say? I would be grateful.

Hallo Tjitske.
The specimen belongs to the genus
Chrysis, not to Hedychrum.
For the color pattern and the shape of the anal margin I can say that the specimens belongs to the
Chrysis succincta species group, maybe a female of
Chrysis gribodoi Abeille, 1877.

Hallo Gian Luca,
Thank you very much for your rapid response! I have changed the name immediately. So it was Chrysis after all.
I will certainly be back some other time with new Chrysis-photo's!

Hi everyone,
this is a female of Chrysis succincta succinctula Dahlbom, 1845 (sensu Linsenmaier 1959).
The female of gribodoi Abeille has 2 closely related teeth at the apex of T-III, while the females of bicolor Lepeletier and illigeri Wesmael have 4 anal teeth.
Cheers
Paolo

Hallo Paolo,
Thank you so much! I'm very happy that a definite ID was possible. I will change the name again.
Cheers, Tjitske
