Hi,

Another day, another place and two other Chrysididae :D .
When collected I was sure that this two belong to the same species, same general colors, almost the same size but when preparing and specially when extracted... two species. ;)

So, this one collected in 6.july.2011 in Romania (Oltenia), close to Drobeta Turnu-Severin on Daucus carota flower.

A bigger photo here.

Is possible to know more? Posted also here.

WOW :wow:

male of Chrysis taczanovskii Radoszkowski, 1876

Not a common species, even if it is more common in E-Europe.

It looks very similar to the other species (Chrysis marginata), but they belongs to 2 different species group.

The first visible external difference is given in the relative lenght of the flagellomeres. Compare the pictures and you'll see that F-I (first antennal flagellomere) and F-II have different lenght.

Chrysis marginata belongs to the Chrysis (Chrysis) comparata group, while Chrysis taczanovskii belongs to the taczanovskii group.
According to Linsenmaier the taczanovskii group belongs to a different subgenus Cornuchrysis, mainly based on the short F-I in males.

Ciao

Incredible photographs! Just stunning.
I assume you use photo-stacking, but do you use a macro lens or do you strap the camera to a stereo microscope?
