Chrysura sp., cuprea group - from Turkey

Postby cosmln » 03 Aug 2011 18:32

Hi !!!

when I have been this year in Turkey, found also some Chrysididae, less than ten specimens (I was lucky to find the "best" weather and temperature  ).

this is first of them (only this specimen :( ), collected in Turkey: Istanbul: Çatalca: Çiftlik (near) - 13.V.2011

Is possible to a have a full name? A bigger image here.

Non conosco la fauna turca :) ma controllando sul Linsenmaier 1959a mi verrebbe da dire Chrysura dichroa (Dahlbom 1854) :D

....foto spettacolare, come sempre

Hi everyone!

Yes, it belongs to the genus Chrysura. But the head is entirely red, while in C. dichroa (and the related species) is always entirely blue or blue with red frons (i.e. purpureifrons).
In Eastern Europe and Turkey there are 3 species: cuprea (with the subspecies demeltiin Turkey), oraniensis and declinanalis. Unfortunately there are not drawings of the genital capsula of demelti and declinanalis. Now I´m in Wien, but the next week I´ll try to find the ID: I need to prepare the genital capsula and probably I need more pictures (i.e. the anal margin in lateral view).

Ciao
Paolo
