Hello,
This Chrysis was very interested by the nests of Odynerus spinipes (on the picture 2, he is in the nest).
Is it a Chrysis of the ignita group ?
(Belgium, 28-06-2012)
Thanks

Yes, its cerainly a C. ignita cf, but which one I am not sure, I still have no idea on how to separate most of them in practice.

Dear Christine,
fantastic pictures!!!
If I'm able ... I'll try to move your post in the biology posts.
Many Chrysidids are reported to be parasitoids of Odynerus spinipes: Pseudospinolia neglecta, Chrysis ruddii, Chrysis viridula, Chrysis mediata, and we also have some doubtfull data as those for Chrysis bicolor.
Based on your beautiful pictures it's impossible to be sure about the identification, however, I presume that your Chrysidid could be Chrysis mediata Linsenmaier, 1951.
Cheers
Paolo

Thanks a lot for those precisions
,
At that place, I've also take pictures of Chrysis viridula entering into the nest of Odynerus spinipes. If you are interested, I can post some of them.
