Pleurochrysis gracilia? Female

Postby Alex » 17 Sep 2013 00:54

Had a hard time IDing this, as it somewhat agreed with Exochrysis, untill I checked Linsenmaier 1985 and found the subgenus Exsecochrysis (=Pleurochrysis) and then both his key and Kimsey 1985 gave me the same species, albeit under different names (E. gracilia Linsenmaier 1985 and P. alfkeni, Ducke 1902 respectively). Is this somewhat correct?
I would say that although Kimsey 1985 and Kimsey & Bohart 1991 synonymised gracilia Linsenmaier 1985 with alfkeni (Ducke 1902) it does not agree with the description of alfkeni in Linsenmaier 1997 (the only description of alfkeni I have seen), while to me seems similar to his gracilia.

Is there any consensus on what genera/species this taxon belongs to? (if I'm correct in my ID that is)

You'll have to excuse the bad quality of the pictures, this wasp is tiny, and so my 1:1 macro is far from adequate (time to buy a componon 50/f.2.8 and turn it around :? ).

Thanks,
