Apteran Chrysididae ?

Postby Rapha1 » 26 Nov 2014 10:12

Hello,

I wanted to show you this picture (not mine)...

Entomologist suggested to me that it shoud be a Chrysididae...is there any Apteran species in this family ?

It seem to be photographied In Australia (one photo only) :

Hi Rapha!

sorry for the delay, your message was unfortunately moved in SPAM.

This picture is really fantastic! and it is a very rare shot!

Yes, it's a Chrysididae belonging to the subfamily Amiseginae.
In this subfamily there are many genera with apterous species.

Lynn Kimsey is actively working on this subfamily,
perhaps she is interested in this picture for her studies. You can contact her.

All the Best
Paolo

Thank you Paolo !

The photographer say it was taken at Newcastle ( State of New South Wales, Australia )

And Lynn Kimsey said : "Interesting. This is probably a female of Exova but the genus isn't recorded from New South Wales"
