Luglio 2010 Italia Veneto
Rosara di Codevigo (PD)
Leg. Uliana M.


Lunghezza dell'esemplare: circa 7 mm.

Thats one funky looking Chrysis, just look at that pronotum!
Nice find! I'm getting more and more jealous of you southern europeans and all your wasp diversity ;)

Hi everyone,

it's a female of Chrysis marginata Mocsary. It's a South-eastern Mediterranean (and Turanic) species recently arrived in Italy (around the 60's). Linsenmaier described this form as Chrysis marginata ssp. aliunda.

Grazie Paolo per la determinazione. :ok:

Non avrei mai pensato a C. marginata aliunda in quanto gli esemplari che ho in collezione appartenenti a questa ssp. sono tutti molto più verdi (come quelli postati su FEI).
Al contrario ho un altro esemplare azzurro come quello della foto che proviene dal Trasimeno (Umbria); se il Database di Chrysis.net è aggiornato, risulta specie nuova per la regione.
