Chrysis analis - Germany

Postby Paul » 31 Jul 2017 23:01

Hi folks,
last week a friend sent me some pictures of Chrysis analis he made a few days before.
This inspired me to take a trip to an area where I had met this species during the last years.
This was the first time I could see one lady on Achillea, but the wind was very strong.
So it took some hours only to get a few pictures. Here they are...

All the best Paul

Hi Alex,
Respect! To determinate the snake-species based on a pic like this I didn't expect...
Of course: right you are!
The added pic shows the snake before entering the hole where she was observed by the C.analis.
Looking at the eyes you can see that she is very closed to moulting. After flying away the C. analis
was caught by a spider net (next pic). It took only a few seconds and she could free herself. Situations like this happen often to cuckoo-wasps. I've seen a lot.
All the best Paul

Hi Paul
very nice pictures! On the third picture you also caught a rather rare longhorn beetle: Chlorophorus figuratus!

Hi Rudolf,
Thanks a lot for your kind comment!
I would have been very happy getting Chlorophorus figuratus by a picture.
The one shown on the pic with the C. analis is Chlorophorus sartor which is
quite common in that special area.
All the best Paul
