Hedychridium aheneum? - Hungary

Postby piros » 27 Nov 2011 20:43

Hi Forum!

I captured this Chrysidid with a yellow plate (not a real pan, just a regular yellow picnic plate) in Szeged, Hungary. Date: 06-07-2011. Using the key of Móczár, L., I arrived at Hedychridium aheneum (male). Although it seems to be a very distinctive species (for the shape of the posterior edge of T2 and T3), I would nevertheless greatly appreciate a confirmation of this ID, because, if it is correct, this would be the 3rd specimen ever collected in Hungary… :o

If necessary, I can make further pictures!

Thanks in advance!

Henrik

Hi Henrik!!!

Yes, it is, Hedychridium aheneum (Dahlbom).
The divergent temples and metallic tegulae are typical!
Nice pictures. The shape of the tergite is the same in H. incrassatum (Spinola).
Basically H. aheneum is the Eastern form of incrassatum.

Cheers
Paolo
