:welcome: Hugh!

Interesting picture.
I think it could be Chrysis graelsii Guérin.
Unfortunately the anal margin is not well visible, partially hidden by the wings, but I see that the anal teeth are widely separated.
Do you have any other image? maybe with the face of this Chrysis?

Thanks
Best Regards

Hi Hugh,

thanks for the new pic.

I was wrong in the first ID. I excluded C. analis and related species because of the blue metallic tegulae and the shape of the last tergite. But now, checking again the first picture and the last one, I can say it is a Chrysis of the comparata group. Without any further picture I can't be sure if it is analis or simplonica. The most common species, present in Northen Spain, is Chrysis analis, while the second species, C. simplonica (which is not rare in Spain), should be distributed in the Mediterranean provinces and North up to Madrid. In Mingo (1994) Chrysis simplonica is missing, and I don't have distributional data for this species in N Spain.

So, very probably it is Chrysis analis Spinola.

Best Regards
