It varies from some places to other. Close to the coast and towards the SE, they come out very early. I have shot them before in February, but as you can see, also in January we have them.
It's closely related to Chrysis rutiliventris and it really seems Chrysis valenciana Hoffmann. Wow. It would be super interesting to have some fresh specimens for Barcoding and genitalia examination. Can you collect at least a couple or other specimens?
Thanks for the ID Paolo, I have never captured specimens. I do not know how I would have to preserve them. I go to the place once a month or so, so, maybe I could try capturing some, in the future. Best wishes, Guillermo
